American medtech firm establishes UK headquarters in Altrincham
US firm GrandCare Systems Ltd is establishing a UK base in Greater Manchester.
The firm signed up for 2,516 sq ft at 18 Edward Court, a refurbished office scheme on Altrincham Business Park.
Headquartered in West Bend, Wisconsin, GrandCare creates systems and monitoring programmes that enable elderly and vulnerable people to remain in their homes.
The company already supplies the NHS, care homes and individuals in the UK with touchscreen technology offering social communications, instructions, medication prompts and online entertainment.
Caregivers are also able to access the system, which can use integrated activity sensors, environmental sensors and digital health devices to raise the alarm if something is amiss.
GrandCare’s Matthew Warnes said: “We are delighted to have Altrincham Business Park as our UK headquarters, we fully anticipate that we will be expanding our business shortly and Altrincham Business Park gives us the flexibility to do this.
“Whilst being situated so close to the motorway network allows both ourselves to travel easily and a skilled workforce to reach us. We look forward to many fruitful years ahead helping people in the UK stay independent in their own homes for longer.”
Altrincham Business Park is managed by Commercial Estates Group (CEG), which acquired the site earlier this year.
Robert Morton, investment manager at CEG, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Grand Care to Altrincham Business Park; they have taken space within one of our self-contained buildings and recognise the benefits this well-located site could offer for their new UK headquarters.”
CEG is planning to refurbish the reception, frontage and common areas of 8 Edward Court later this year.
