£14.2m apartment scheme with roof terrace approved for ‘prominent’ Manchester route

Plans for a multi-million pound apartment scheme in central Manchester have received the go ahead from city planners.

The £14.2m project, designed by Northern Quarter architecture practice IDP, will deliver 105 two-bed apartments on Princess Road along with a fourth-floor landscaped roof terrace.

Stepping in height along Princess Road, the scheme will rise to a maximum of six stories with a red brick design to complement the area’s existing buildings.

Brendan Blythe, managing director of Galliford Try Partnerships North West, the developer behind the project, said: “We’re delighted that this scheme, which will provide a high-quality housing offer to the local community, has been approved.

“Whilst still respecting the local character of the neighbourhood, this scheme will bring exciting, modern architecture to the area.”

He continued: “With its location on such a prominent route, these apartments afford excellent transport links and amenities. I’ve no doubt that they’ll be a popular choice for professionals and families looking for city living. I’m looking forward to seeing the scheme progress.”

Galliford Try will start work on-site in early 2018, for completion in Summer 2019.
