MANAGING DIRECTOR OF PENTAXIA IS GUEST SPEAKER AT A SPECIAL CONNECT DERBY EVENT
Stephen Ollier, managing director of advanced carbon fibre composite manufacturer Pentaxia, is the guest speaker at a special networking event being hosted by Connect Derby.
The event, ‘Building a world class manufacturing business in Derby’, is taking place at Friar Gate Studios on Thursday 30th November (5.30pm) and is free to attend.
Stephen will talk candidly about what he’s learned in 45 years building businesses and how, after establishing two global businesses worth over £100 million each, he turned his back on retirement at the age of 58 to start his own business venture.
Derby-based Pentaxia, which was founded in 2008, delivers world class tooling and composite components for the aerospace, automotive and other hi-tech industries and boasts high-profile customers including Mercedes, Aston Martin and Maclaren.
The company recently made a £4.5 million investment in a new Derby factory and now employs more than 100 staff. Last year, the company grew by 60% in a market expected to quadruple in size by 2030.
In a talk of interest to anyone running their own business, or hoping to, Stephen will share what he believes are some of the keys to success, including the importance of great people, building good processes, seizing opportunities when they present themselves, and enjoying yourself - but never resting on your laurels.
Commenting on the event, Connect Derby manager Ann Bhatti said:
“We’re looking forward to welcoming Stephen to Friar Gate Studios and benefiting from his considerable experience of setting up and running successful businesses.
“Pentaxia works across a diverse range of market sectors, from aerospace and defence to motorsport and automotive, so this promises to be a really interesting event,” added Ann.
The event will start at 5.30pm with Stephen speaking at 6pm for around 45 minutes including a Q&A. Afterwards, guests will have the opportunity to network until 8pm. Refreshments will be provided.
