10 jobs created as Bolton’s Provenance Food Hall & Restaurant expands

Provenance Food Hall & Restaurant in Bolton is set to expand and create new jobs.

The Westhoughton-based market and dining venue is using six-figure funding from NatWest to triple capacity with the acquisition of a neighbouring 3,000 sq ft unit on Market Street.

The additional space will take Provenance from a 46-cover restaurant to more than 150 when it opens in 10 months’ time.

The company will create 10 jobs as part of the expansion, bringing its workforce to 35.

Provenance Food Hall & Restaurant was founded in June 2015 by husband and wife Brian and Karen Tinniswood, together with brother Rob Tinniswood. The unit occupied was home to their grandparents’ and parents’ family toy business, Tinniswoods, from 1952 to 1999.

Provenance’s restaurant is headed by chef Lewis Gallagher.

Brian said: “Our team, led by Karen and Lewis, share a passion for bringing great food to the people of Westhoughton, all of which is sourced from local producers and suppliers.

“Our restaurant is fully booked most nights, so when the unit next door became available it was the perfect opportunity for us to look at expanding our business.”

He added: “NatWest helped us access the finance needed as well as advice and support throughout the whole process. We can’t wait to open the new space and give more diners the chance to sample our award-winning dishes.”
