Dance-focused digital radio station launches in Liverpool
A new digital radio station focusing on dance music has launched in Liverpool.
Amp Radio, available as an app for Apple and Android users, will play house and dance anthems round the clock for a target audience of 18 to 40 year olds in Merseyside.
A number of local DJs have already signed up to be part of Amp, including Dave Whelan of dance duo CamelPhat and Ian Longo.
Also involved are Les Calvert and Lil John, best known from Liverpool nightclubs Society, Garlands and 051, as well as Andy Mac and Dave Bennett.
Since its launch last weekend, the Amp app has been downloaded more than 1,500 times. The station is also available for listeners via its website.
An Amp spokesperson said: “Liverpool is a very unique city with an unrivalled nightlife covering so many different scenes.
“Amp is all about bringing these together and giving them the platform to showcase what they are about.”
They continued: “We pride ourselves on being the first to break new dance music as well as not forgetting our roots and delivering unrivalled output with old skool classics and anthems. Think of us as one big dance floor which you can take with you wherever you go.”
