£600k investment to fuel more growth for Stockton plastics manufacturer
Icon Plastics, a precision plastic injection moulding business, is set to expand its manufacturing output with the construction of a new facility on newly-acquired land, a stone’s throw away from its currently base in Eaglescliffe.
Established for over 15 years now, the organisation has developed a reputation in the region for manufacturing plastic parts and assemblies used in the automotive supply chain.
Moreover, the business supplies plastic moulded components and assemblies to the automotive electronics, agricultural, healthcare, construction, and defence sectors.
Growing by 20% year on year, Icon has invested £450k in buying the new site and will spend another £150k in refurbishing and kitting out the factory.
Having reached maximum capacity at its current location on Durham Lane industrial park, Icon chiefs say that the additional 10,000 square foot factory will give the company exactly what it needs to continue to grow.
Icon Plastics Managing Director, Gareth Thomas, said: “We are seeing positive growth in the business, and are very confident about the expansion.
“We currently have about two acres of space at our current site, but it was beginning to feel cramped, which raised the very real prospect of having to walk away from further contracts.
“The new site will remove such fears, giving us space to expand our operation, take on new clients and strengthen the company’s position in the market as we look to grow the business into the future.”
Icon employs 60 permanent full time staff and intends to make further full time and apprentice positions as it grows its operation.
