Digital infrastructure specialist invests in new back-up solution from Vapour Cloud
Macclesfield-based digital infrastructure specialist iTG Technologies has signed a new deal with Yorkshire-headquartered Vapour Cloud, in a partnership that will see 35 clients move over to a new encrypted back-up system.
Having partnered with Vapour on a number of network, voice and connectivity projects to date, iTG was more than familiar with the services that Vapour provides.
But mindful of increasingly stringent data protection pressures and the imminent introduction of GDPR legislation, iTG set about exploring the marketplace for an alternative to its EMC back-up product too.
A rigorous review of the sector brought the team back to Vapour and the decision was made to transition clients to one of the data specialists’ two solutions, Acronis.
Commenting on the move, iTG’s managing director Simon Spurrell said: “The core essence of our business is to help companies embrace the use of digital products that can streamline productivity, heighten security and increase the visibility of their organisations, making Vapour’s Acronis cloud back-up the perfect solution to enhance to our iTG CloudBase product portfolio.
“When searching for a new back-up partner we were therefore looking to build a solid relationship founded on trust, whilst hunting for a product with technical capabilities that are resilient by design. With Vapour’s two data centres, both in the North of England, and their robust, GDPR-compliant infrastructure, we knew we’d found the perfect answer.”
Client changeovers are now happening on a staggered programme of works that will run until the end of the year.
Vapour’s CEO Tim Mercer added: “The actual transition period for each individual company will depend on their own retention policies. However, typically, a 30 day proof-of-concept phase will be provided before any existing back-ups are switched off. This helps build the level of data retention for utmost client peace of mind, before a complete migration to our alternative provision.”
