Landmark celebrates GIS Day 2017 with real-time treasure hunt

Land and property data experts, Landmark Information, is celebrating GIS Day this week across its Reading, Brighton and Exeter offices with a series of workshops to demonstrate the innovative application of geospatial data. A special ‘Landmarks for Landmark’ treasure hunt is taking place in Brighton, involving two teams who need to identify 12 iconic locations using an ArcGIS map and ESRI Arc-Collector app to track each team’s progress in real-time.

The interactive workshops will showcase how Landmark’s range of data-led services and online tools are helping a wealth of industry sectors in streamlining their workflow, site investigations or simply delivering greater insights.

Paul Blewett, Landmark Information said: “Our team of geospatial and data experts enjoy celebrating GIS Day each year, to demonstrate how we are bringing location data to life. The treasure hunt in Brighton is a great way of promoting how app-based technology is helping to streamline the way site-based data can be captured.

“In the last two decades, Landmark has made GIS data accessible to clients; leading the way with introducing digital mapping into the conveyancing process with our RiskView service, and more recently launching LandSearch to help investors, developers and land owners in assessing the viability of a piece of land, as just two examples. By enabling customers to fully interact with geographical data, they can clearly visualise and interpret data in ways they haven’t been able to do in the past – and for that GIS Day is a way of celebrating these accomplishments.”

GIS Day was first established in 1999 by ESRI to demonstrate how geographic intelligence touches everyone. The explosion of geospatial technology since then has expanded that idea into a global event that demonstrates how far GIS extends into people’s lives, and a forum for users to showcase their unique GIS endeavours.

Landmark Information is joining hundreds of organisations across the globe in hosting gatherings that will serve to ignite the imagination of the future geospatial innovators who will move the planet forward using GIS.
