Ruthin-based Jones Bros playing key role in £100m industrial park
Ruthin-based contractor Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK is 50 per cent of the way through its highways project to provide access to a new employment park.
The civil engineering company is installing a roundabout on the A51 as part of plans for the Cheshire Green Industrial Park.
The business hub, which offers companies plots from 1 acre to 20 acres, is part of the Haughton Estate, managed and developed by Cheshire Green Employment Park Ltd.
Jones Bros is on course to finish the roundabout work in mid December. Construction work is due to start on the £100m business park in the new year.
Hefin Lloyd-Davies, Jones Bros regional manager for North Wales and the North West, said: “We’re very experienced in highways infrastructure projects and this project is progressing well.
“It’s fantastic to be working alongside Phillip Posnett, director of Cheshire Green Industrial Park, and his team on this business park, which has been very well received by the regional business community.
“We have 10 people on site, including two apprentices who are gaining valuable experience on every aspect of a highways job. The Jones Bros team are working online (on the road) as well as offline (off the road) and the traffic management has ensured the impact on commuters is as limited as possible.”
The Cheshire Green Employment Park is on the A51 between Calveley and Barbridge, and next to Boughey Distribution. The location was chosen because of its easy connections with key motorways including the M6 and M56 as well as the A55 in North Wales.
The units, which are ideal for industrial, warehouse, distribution and storage use, will have access to fibre broadband as well as ample parking and a frequent bus service.
Phillip Posnett, who is also chairman of the Cheshire branch of the Country Land and Business Association (CLA), said: “The business park is over five years in the making and it’s brilliant to see it progressing so quickly since we received planning permission.
“We have already had enquiries and that speaks volumes for how much the Cheshire business community needs quality commercial space.
“It is important to the family that Cheshire Green Industrial Park is something that turns an old brown field site into a usable, aesthetically pleasing and thriving environment that boosts the local economy and creates benefits for the community living and working in this part of Cheshire.
“It was vital for us to work with contractors that have similar values, as well as the ability to carry out the work to a high standard. Jones Bros is a family firm which has a strong reputation throughout the UK, and Hefin and the team haven’t disappointed.”
Founded in the 1950s and employing almost 350 people, Jones Bros has grown rapidly in the last decade. It is currently working on contracts in various sectors including the construction of waste management facilities, highways, flood and marine defence and renewable energy projects around the UK.
