Developer Forshaw granted planning consent for £40m residential complex in Ordsall

A multi-million pound residential development in Ordsall has been given the thumbs up by Salford City Council.

Work will begin in the New Year on the £40m project to create 232 new apartments on Worrall Street.

The scheme’s three buildings, ranging from seven to nine storeys, will be delivered by Bolton-based developer Forshaw Land and Property Group.

The properties will comprise 107 one-bedroom apartments, 77 two-bed apartments, 28 three-bed apartments, 19 two-bed duplex apartments and one three-bed duplex.

Public space improvements, landscaping and car parking facilities are also included in the plans.

National planning and development consultancy Lichfields was appointed on the proposals.

The firm said the development will support 211 on-site construction jobs and 319 off site in construction-related industries during its one-and-a-half-year build phase.

According to Lichfields, the development will also bring a boost of almost £30m to the area’s economy.

Nathan Matta, planning director at Lichfields’ Manchester office, said: “We are delighted to have secured permission for this development on behalf of Forshaw Land and Property Group and will contribute further to the exciting regeneration of this part of the city.

“This exciting development responds positively to the council’s aspirations for the area through its high quality design and accommodation mix.”
