Mathew appointed to oversee new Gloucestershire development
Gloucestershire housebuilder David Wilson Homes has appointed Mathew Fraser-Brown as site manager for its Saxon Gate development in Leonard Stanley.
Mathew will oversee construction at the site, working closely with all those involved in the process – including subcontractors and suppliers. He has played a key role within the industry for 17 years and says that seeing residents move into their new homes is one of his favourite parts of his job.
“It’s handing over the keys and seeing people’s faces as they walk into their dream home,” he said. “It’s a very rewarding thing to see.”
Mathew’s role also involves mentoring David Wilson Homes’ apprentices. Saxon Gate currently has six apprentices, undertaking everything from bricklaying and carpentry to electrics. “It’s rewarding to see them develop in their careers,” Mathew says. “Everyone on site makes sure they pay special attention to the apprentices and teach them what they can about the industry, from their own experience. It’s about developing the workforce of the future.”
Mathew had the opportunity to show his daughter, Grace, around Saxon Gate recently when she was invited to place a hedgehog home on the development. David Wilson Homes has pledged to put ‘hogitats’ on each of its new communities and Grace had the honour of placing the one in Leonard Stanley.
“She’s already told me she wants to be a site manager when she grows up!” he joked.
Mathew adds that progress at Saxon Gate is coming along well, with roof on 18 of the 46 homes by the end of the month. A show home opened at the development recently and Mathew said it’s been wowing visitors. He added: “The development as a whole is somewhere I’d love to live myself. The views are absolutely stunning and the houses aren’t packed in tight, there’s loads of space. It’s been a pleasure to build.”
David Wilson Homes’ sales director Louise Ware said: “We think very carefully when appointing site managers for our new developments because they are crucial to the success of these important new communities.
“Mathew has the skills and experience to deliver homes of the quality our buyers have come to expect from us. I look forward to watching this impressive new development take shape over the coming months.”
Once complete, Saxon Gate will feature 46 four and five bedroom homes. Located on the edge of Stroud, Saxon Gate is surrounded by countryside overlooking the Severn Vale. A doctor’s surgery, pub, restaurant and primary school are all close by - while the town centre is just four miles away.
Homes start from £375,000. To find out more visit www.dwh.co.uk
