New Cineworld venue marks completion of leisure extension in White Rose Shopping Centre
Opening to the public today (Friday 17 November), Cineworld Leeds has marked the completion of Landsec’s leisure extension at White Rose Shopping Centre.
Following investment from Landsec, the UK’s largest commercial property company, the 65,000 sq ft leisure extension at the Leeds-based shopping centre launched in July this year.
The new multiplex cinema will join the six restaurants currently situated in the Village, which includes popular chains Five Guys, Wagamama and Pizza Hut.
With 11 screens, including an IMAX screen, a Baskin Robbins ice cream counter and Starbucks, Cineworld’s latest venue aims to represent the latest modern cinema experience.
Justin Skinner, SVP Marketing at Cineworld Cinemas, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening our new cinema at White Rose and to be bringing our latest state-of-the-art cinema experience to Leeds.
“Landsec’s investment in the Village at White Rose has created a really engaging, attractive new destination at the shopping centre; one which is perfect for people to shop, eat and enjoy a film.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming the people of Leeds through our doors to enjoy the very best movie-going experience.”
The completed leisure destination, which follows 2014’s £7m dining addition The Balcony, also offers rejuvenated public spaces, in the hope to attract more visitors from the city.
Alongside the Village development, a programme of improvements at the shopping centre are currently underway. Wayfinding and signage have both been improved, as well as an addition of a dedicated staff car park and installation of electric car charging points for customers.
Rob Jewell, Portfolio Director, Retail at Landsec, said: “The creation of the Village has taken White Rose to the next level in terms of the range of retail and leisure experiences it offers to guests.
“Visitors can now enjoy a full range of daytime and evening shopping, dining and entertainment experiences at White Rose.”
