Liverpool storage business invests £250k to stimulate jobs growth
Self-storage and business space provider Rent A Space is boosting capacity and helping to create jobs near Liverpool with a six-figure investment.
At the company’s facility on Dunnings Bridge Road in Netherton, work is underway on a mezzanine fit-out to provide an extra 25,000 sq ft of lettable space.
The centre, which already houses 50,000 sq ft of facilities, has helped generate more than 100 jobs since opening two years ago.
Rent A Space co-owner Kevin Murphy believes the latest upgrade will support a range of new tenants and stimulate further employment opportunities.
NatWest provided a £250k boost to facilitate the expansion.
Tim Hine, commercial banking manager to Rent A Space at NatWest, commented: “Rent A Space (Self Storage) Ltd benefits from a strong management team, with an excellent track record, who have a clear strategy on how they want to develop their business.
“The investment at their Liverpool unit will help them to maintain a competitive edge in the market.”
Kevin established the company alongside business partner Andrew Donaldson in September 2015, opening a second site in Shrewsbury in September 2016.
The duo plan to open a third facility in the North West next year.
Prior to founding Rent A Space, both Kevin and Andrew were directors of Big Storage Ltd, which specialised in household self-storage and comprised a portfolio of five facilities across the North West when it was acquired by storage firm Big Yellow Group in January 2015.
