Local talent joins chemical firm to head up HR department
A chemical manufacturer in Cross Hills has appointed a HR advisor to join the team.
Menston-based Emma Plummer joins Airedale Chemical following nine years in human resources including industry-specific experience in engineering and manufacturing.
The role marks a significant development in the firm’s human resources department which has previously relied on outsourced support, but can now focus on allowing the company to nurture employee skills and training while providing a support system for all staff.
Emma, who will be advising on all aspects of human resources, said: “It’s been a great start finding out about the different departments establishing how we can all work together to meet the business’ strategic goals.”
The chemical producer is currently recruiting for a dye lab apprentice to join its team; a process which Emma is heavily involved with.
“Apprenticeships are a wonderful way into work and I can already see the team here is passionate about training up younger generations. I’m looking forward to working closely with the directors to fully implement the scheme, alongside other initiatives and workshops to support employees,” added Emma, who previously worked at Fives Landis in Cross Hills.
Chris Chadwick, managing director at Airedale Chemical, said: “Enhancing our HR department at Airedale Chemical is an important step in the development of the business. Previously the directors have played a large role in recruitment, but they’re now free to concentrate on more strategic focuses.
“Emma has fit into the team brilliantly and I know she is already making a significant impact on our business.”
Airedale Chemical was established in 1973 and provides chemicals and contract manufacturing to markets including agriculture, dairy, water treatment and waste management.
