Winning pupils shine bright! Brand new Christmas light designs revealed for Brayton
The new Christmas lights for Brayton have been revealed ahead of December, following a design competition for local school children. Award-winning housebuilder, Barratt Homes, is proud to have supported the community and provided the funding needed to commission the new lights, which will be switched on at 4.00pm on Saturday 9th December.
Barratt Homes donated a total of £15,000 to Brayton Parish Council, a portion of which has been used to enable the three winning designs to be made into festive lights for the village during the Christmas period. The three competition winners include seven-year-old Isla Clegg from St Mary’s Primary School, who designed an angel light. Nine-year-old Alex Wraight’s penguin with a cosy hat and scarf was also chosen, along with 11-year-old Kimberley Crossley’s holly light. Both children are from Longman’s Hill School. The three winning designs will now be made into full size working lights and will make their debut at Brayton’s Christmas lights switch on early next month.
Mr Vyv Griffiths, Vice Chairman of Brayton Parish Council, commented: “We’re very pleased with the designs that have been chosen and think they will make a great addition to the village this Christmas.”
Sarah Crawford, Sales Adviser for nearby Barratt Homes development, St Wilfrid’s Walk, commented: “It was really lovely to see all of the children get involved with the local community and design their own Christmas light for the competition. I’m looking forward to seeing the finished display in action at the switch on next month.”
Located in the sought-after village of Brayton, Selby, St Wilfrid’s Walk is ideally situated near to a fantastic range of local schools, shops and restaurants. The development has been very popular and has sold quickly with only two, four bedroom properties now remaining. Interested buyers are urged to visit the development before it’s too late. Local development Barley Fields, located in the desirable village of Barlby, also boasts four bedroom homes and is nearby for prospective purchasers to view.
Residents from Brayton, Selby and the surrounding area are invited to attend the official Christmas lights switch on which will be happening at 4.00pm at Brayton Green Village on Saturday 9th December.
