A Jewish-inspired cafe is landing in Soho this Christmas
After a successful crowdfunding round raising £500k, The Good Egg cafe is coming to Soho next week.
Chefs Joel Braham, Alex Coppard and Oded Mizrachi are drawing on Jewish cafe culture for the opening, combined with Tel Aviv’s street food scene. The Good Egg is to be an all-day restaurant, bakery and bar in Kingly Court, Carnaby.
Joel Braham said: “Over the last two years we’ve been on this incredible ride in Stoke Newington, from developing Oded’s age-old family recipes, to our pastrami we’ve spent years tweaking after we first tried it in Montreal.
“We’ve travelled all over Israel and North America and eaten more Babka than we should really admit to… Opening in a bigger home in Kingly Court will allow us to take all of that and then some, and pour it into every corner - I can’t wait.”
The menu is to reflect seasonal, British produce, influenced by Jewish cooking. Alongside the day menu, the bakery is to offer cakes and fresh bread, as well as sandwiches and salads available for takeaway.
The bar is said to capture the spirit of Tel Aviv’s late-night bars, including mixes of martini to lager and gin.
The Good Egg is opening its door on Friday December 1.
