intu Eldon Square gets shoppers Christmassing in style!

Families immersed themselves in a winter wonderland and embraced the spirit of the festive season at intu Eldon Square’s free, two day, enchanting extravaganza.

On Thursday 23 and Friday 24 November the shopping centre came alive with festive fun – featuring magical animatronic characters, roaming entertainment, face painting, exclusive competitions and festive food sampling.

A breathtaking appearance by the magnificent Snow Lion was the ‘mane’ event along with his glamorous Snow Queen protector, who captivated shoppers of all ages. These mystical characters encapsulated the spirit of the season and transported their audience to a wintry world of make-believe.

The enchanting entertainment continued as the sparkling Glitterbelles roamed the malls helping shoppers to get Christmassing while friendly fauns spread a little festive magic and even stopped for a selfie or two.

Whilst in centre families enjoyed an array of interactive fun as the intu Magic Tree app was launched. The app is a digital augmented reality experience which gives customers the chance to play fun games and add stickers to festive selfies. Visitors can share their favourite selfies and pictures from around the Christmas tree on Instagram and Twitter via the app for the chance to win a £250 intu Gift Card. Excitable elves were on hand to show shoppers how the app works and they also surprised visitors with a few festive treats.

Outside of Boots shoppers were tempted to sample the very best festive offerings from restaurants in the centre, while over at the winter wonderland near Debenhams there was free face-painting for all the family.

Sarah Parker, from North Shields, visited intu Eldon Square with her daughter Holly, age 8. Sarah said:

“We absolutely loved the snow lion, we even got the opportunity to get up close and stroke him which was such a magical experience that we will never forget.”

Anna Stevens, aged 10, from Newcastle enjoyed trying out the new app:

“The intu Magic Tree app is not what I expected, it was amazing! I thought the mushrooms were so funny too! It really got me into the Christmas spirit, I can’t wait to tell all my friends about it.”

intu Eldon Square’s marketing manager, Tania Vesty, commented:
