Colt Achieves AWS Networking Competency Status
Colt Technology Services, a leading enabler for customers’ digital transformation through agile and on-demand, high bandwidth solutions, announced today that it has achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS) Networking Competency status. This designation recognises that Colt provides proven technology and in-depth expertise to help customers adopt, develop and deploy networks on AWS. Achieving the AWS Networking Competency differentiates Colt as an AWS Partner Network (APN) member that provides specialised demonstrated technical proficiency and proven customer success with a specific focus on networking connectivity and direct connect. To receive the designation, APN Partners must possess deep AWS expertise and deliver solutions seamlessly on AWS.
“At Colt, we are honoured to achieve Networking Competency status, said Rajiv Datta, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Colt. “An intelligent network is a vital element of the cloud experience. Colt Dedicated Cloud Access (DCA) establishes a new standard compared to existing WAN services or internet connections. In addition, our On Demand portfolio offers the same scalable and adaptable capabilities, historically associated with cloud services. Colt is focused on helping companies achieve their technology goals by leveraging the flexibility, breadth of services, and pace of innovation that AWS provides.” AWS is enabling flexible, and cost-effective solutions from startups to global enterprises. To support the seamless integration and deployment of these solutions, AWS established the AWS Partner Competency Program to help customers identify Consulting and Technology APN Partners with deep industry experience and expertise.
Colt provides an SDN-enabled DCA On Demand offering, offering intelligent, secure and reliable private connectivity. Colt DCA service gives businesses a faster, more reliable cloud networking experience when compared to relying on public internet. Further, with DCA On Demand, customers can leverage the Colt IQ Network to request new connections into the AWS cloud in real time, avoiding traditional telco service delivery processes, which could take weeks or months to complete.
This also allows customers to flex bandwidths up and down via a portal, bringing the capabilities that customers benefit from AWS to the network. In line with this flexibility, customers now have the option to choose per-hour pricing plans, as well as more traditional fixed term contracts. Instant service delivery combined with the ability to flex services in real time gives additional benefits for cloud-enabled businesses, while delivering access to the cloud with the same confidence, performance and security as a private LAN or WAN.
Interflora Iberia decided to migrate its infrastructure to the cloud using AWS for running its e-commerce and back end platform systems. To support this approach, Interflora needed an incident-free, secure and high performance communications network, and to ensure this they partnered with Colt to provide DCA. The solution gives Interflora the security it needs to protect both its own data and that of its customers, critical for a company with a business that mainly takes place online. It guarantees that all the data collected is protected and seamlessly flows to the cloud.
“Of more than 250,000 orders placed in 2016, around 65% were completed online and our forecasts suggest continued growth for the channel. Valentine’s Day (14 February), Sant Jordi (23 April) and Mother’s Day (the first Sunday in May) are the peak demand periods for flowers in Spain and orders placed online now represent a significant proportion of the total,” said Gustavo Fernández-Baillo, Director of Information Systems at Interflora Iberia.
