It's A Double! Two Escrick Park Estate Companies Make The Top 100

The flourishing Escrick Park Estate, midway between York and Selby, is celebrating the news that two of the businesses on the estate have been named in the York Top 100 Businesses table.

Ypsomed and IMC Toys (UK) have both been included in this prestigious list, published this month.

Ypsomed, pharmaceutical goods wholesalers, are at No 54, while IMC Toys, who sell toys to non-specialised stores across the world, are just behind at No 57.

Ypsomed are based at1 Park Court, Riccall Road, with IMC Toys at Bramley’s Barn, The Menagerie, on the historic, family-run estate.

Ypsomed are a relatively new company to Escrick Park having been clients for three years but IMC Toys have had a long association with the estate, taking their first 2,000 square foot in 2006 and now occupy over 4,500 square feet at The Menagerie.

Charles Forbes Adam, the owner and developer of Escrick Park, which is just five minutes away from the A64, commented: “This is tremendous news and we would like to extend our warmest congratulations to both companies on this excellent achievement. We are very proud of them.

“Their success reflects well on the quality of our rural offices, which continue to attract new occupiers in challenging economic times. We ourselves are tremendously proud of creating a serious business park, with top-class facilities, within a rural idyll.

“We believe Escrick Park, which comprises a number of self-contained hi-spec office developments and 14 units for light industry, has an exceptional and inspiring working environment which is unrivalled in the south York and Selby areas.

“The success of IMC Toys, who have extended their business into additional premises within the estate, has given us great pleasure and I would like to thank them for their continuing faith in us,” said Mr Forbes Adam.

IMC Toys, who first moved to Escrick Park in 2011, have taken an extra 1,500 sq ft at the Menagerie on the estate. They work with brands such as Disney and Club Pets and employ 14 staff.

Terry Crew of IMC Toys said: “The estate is well-run, clean and tidy. Thanks to the peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it is a beautiful peace to work, especially in the summer. The visually impressive offices are great, with plenty of character and ample free parking.

“Our business has grown dramatically over the past six years and we needed additional space to preview our products to our customers. Our offices suit us as there is room for expansion and our customers can find us easily as we are close enough to York city centre”.

He added: “Originally we took 2,000 sq ft and then in 2012 we took an additional 1,100sq ft. As the business continued to prosper, we took an extra 1,500sq ft at 10 Bramleys Barn in the Menagerie”.

Meanwhile Ypsomed, a leading Swiss-based developer and manufacturer of injection and infusion systems for self-medication and a diabetes specialist, occupies 2,000 sq ft at 1 Park Court on the estate.

Seven redundant farmsteads on the park, which has been owned and managed by the Forbes Adam family for the past 350 years, have undergone a comprehensive £1.4 million refurbishment, providing a significant boost to the local economy. These farm building conversions won the coveted Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Award.

Mr Forbes Adam “Our 32 properties offering a variety of workspace are now almost 100 per cent let, with the last one available offices under offer. Altogether we have 32 companies, who employ a total of approximately 175 people on the estate.”

He explained: “The landscape is unusually attractive for the Vale of York and the estate has done much to enhance those elements. There is a feeling of community among the occupiers which has no doubt contributed to retention rates, while conversions have been undertaken sympathetically but to a good commercial standard.

“There are a large number of people commuting into York from the south, east and west. Escrick is ideally suited to catch that traffic before it encounters the congestion in York. Generous car parking is a pre-requisite to attracting skilled staff from the rural villages,” he added.
