Project team assembled to develop Liverpool’s Grade I-listed Royal Liver Building

A project team has been assembled to undertake master planning on the development of the landmark Royal Liver Building in Liverpool.

Real estate services provider CBRE selected architecture practice Corstorphine + Wright and heritage buildings advisory firm Richard DeFiguerdo to help breathe new life into the building, which was acquired by investment business Corestate Capital earlier this year.

The two companies will work with CBRE’s own specialist planning staff to enhance the iconic waterfront property for those who work there and the millions of visitors arriving at Liverpool’s Pier Head each year.

Peter DeFiguerdo, of Richard DeFiguerdo, will support CBRE’s specialist planning consultants and advise on the historic significance of the Grade I-Listed property.

CBRE is instructed across three key divisions to deliver Corestate’s master plan for the Royal Liver Building; office agency, asset services and building consultancy.

Simon Hepple, director for CBRE’s building consultancy, said: “We are delighted to be appointed and to secure the services of the most relevant and experienced consultants to work closely with Liverpool City Council to assist Corestate to create a truly vibrant and revitalised destination in Liverpool.

“Corestate Capital is committed to investing in Liverpool and enhancing the offer of one of the UK’s most iconic buildings.”

Corstorphine + Wright architect director Ed Baverstock commented: “It is an enormous privilege to be selected to consider the redevelopment opportunities of this iconic Liverpool landmark.

“Corstorphine + Wright has a wealth of experience in the respectful conservation and sensitive revival of historic buildings across the UK and we are honoured to play our part as custodians of this magnificent Grade I-listed property.”
