Grove to get near £50 million investment boost
Residents of an Oxfordshire village are set to benefit from nearly £50million of community investment, thanks to a development of new family homes.
Grove will gain from substantial investment in education, public transport, public open space, economic improvements and housing, thanks in part to contributions being made by developer Persimmon Homes.
The former Grove airfield site being created on land off Newlands Drive by Persimmon Homes Wessex will generate inward investment as a result of the construction of 2,500 new homes.
Richard Briggs, managing director at Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “Whenever we start working within a community, we look at ways to support local people and infrastructure.
“The Section 106 contributions outlined at this site include two new primary schools, a secondary school, shops site, a network of open spaces and play areas linked by safe and convenient pedestrian and cycle routes, community parks and sports fields, as well as incorporating road network improvements.”
Pauline Fletcher, sales and marketing director, added: “We are creating a range of attractive homes to suit a range of buyers. Dwellings will be provided in a mix of styles for both affordable housing and open market housing. There will be a selection of one to five bedroomed homes to include detached, semi-detached, terraced and apartments.
“With a number of special offers and buying incentives available, we’ll ensure that this development offers perfect homes for local people at the right price.
“The development itself is situated on the former RAF Station Grove airfield site and the design has been heavily influenced by its former aviation history. We have worked closely with local authorities to provide a development that benefits the local community from every aspect: housing, travel, education and leisure, to improve and enhance local life.”
Persimmon Homes Wessex is offering local residents the chance to name the development. Names may lend themselves to the aviation history of the development, or draw upon local people of significance. Simply email your suggestions by 8th December to wesssales@persimmonhomes.com and the best names will be considered. Winners will be contacted and a presentation at the development will take place.
