Womble Bond Dickinson powers St Peter’s Hospice Room to Care Appeal
Transatlantic law firm Womble Bond Dickinson, in collaboration with St Peter’s Hospice, have organised a Christmas Charity event at Temple Quay in Bristol.
The event was organised to raise money for St Peter’s Hospice and its Room to Care Appeal. The campaign aims to raise the remaining £1.5 million needed to re-build the hospice’s Inpatient Unit that will be fitted with new single, en-suite rooms.
The event, which was also coordinated by GVA Property Management Consultancy who manages the Temple Quay estate, took place last Thursday (7th December) in Temple Quay square. Businesses local to the area and passers-by enjoyed mulled wine and mince pies, listened to carols and purchased the Christmas essentials. The highlight of the event was the switching on of the Christmas tree in the square, with Simon Caraffi, CEO of St Peter’s Hospice doing the honours and turning on the lights.
Jonathan Bower, partner at Womble Bond Dickinson said: “The event last week was a great opportunity to get together with St Peter’s Hospice and our neighbours at Temple Quay to celebrate Christmas early and raise funds for a cause close to our hearts. St Peter’s Hospice has a strong personal resonance for our firm as our colleague Robert Pope received care at the hospice before sadly passing away.”
“Thank you to everyone who attended the event to support the hospice and the vital work it delivers in our community every day. As the only adult hospice in the area, St Peter’s Hospice is a core part of our local community and we’re delighted to have raised such a tremendous amount for the Room To Care Appeal, which will provide the patients with new individual rooms, offering privacy and the best environment for visiting families and loved ones at such a sensitive and precious time.”
Simon Caraffi commented: “We’re really grateful to the staff at Womble Bond Dickinson for their continued support throughout the year which has made a significant contribution to our Room to Care Appeal and we all look forward to building on this success next year.”
St Peter’s Hospice is Womble Bond Dickinson’s chosen office charity and since January this year the firm has raised around £30,000 through a range of charitable and fundraising activities including sporting events, an Easter Fayre, a Bingo Night, a Grand National Fantasy horse race, dress down days, cake sales, payroll giving and volunteering in the hospice’s shops across Bristol.
