Leeds developers go into bat to help buyers

HOWZAT! HOMEOWNERS CAN NOW TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HELP TO BUY INITIATIVE AT EAST LEEDS DEVELOPMENT

A LEEDS property developer is pushing new boundaries after securing support from the Government’s Help to Buy initiative for purchasers interested in its inaugural collection of new homes.

Only two properties remain for sale at the Cricketers View development in Green Lane, Garforth – the first venture into residential property launched by family-run company Vollfortis.

Both properties are ready to move into and have now been made affordable after they became eligible for the Help to Buy initiative, which was set up to assist homebuyers move on or up the property ladder.

Overlooking Garforth Parish Church Cricket Club, the two four-bedroom homes are priced at £250,000 and £315,000 respectively and are being marketed through the Roundhay and Wetherby offices of Linley & Simpson.

Help to Buy is a Government-backed equity scheme which enables people to buy a new home with just a 5% deposit. The rest is topped up with a loan of up to 20% of the property’s value.

Latest figures have shown that more homebuyers in Yorkshire are benefiting from Help to Buy in ever-increasing numbers, with take-up amongst the highest in the UK.

Volfortis director Joseph Ullmann aid: “This new Help to Buy dimension gives the remaining homes extra appeal as part of a development which has already captured homebuyers’ imagination.

“It’s often overlooked that Help to Buy is not solely for first-time buyers – it opens the doors to established homeowners who have since sold their own properties.

“The smaller property has the added benefit of not incurring Stamp Duty if bought by a first-time buyer following a package of support announced in the Autumn Budget.”

The new-build homes at Cricketers View bring an injection of much-needed new housing to Garforth, whose popularity as a place to live and work continues to grow.

Volfortis has transformed a former dairy depot and yard into a £1m-plus collection of energy-saving family homes.

Planners gave the go-ahead for the brownfield site’s redevelopment after hearing that the design and layout of the homes would “contribute in a positive vein to the visual amenity of it, and the character of the area as a whole”. Locals had previously dubbed the site “an eyesore”.
