Runcorn’s JSG in £3.9m swoop for hotel and catering linen specialist
North West textile services company Johnson Service Group (JSG) has announced its acquisition of a specialist hotel and catering linen business based in Wrexham.
Runcorn-headquartered JSG paid £3.9m for StarCounty Textile Services Limited, extending the geographical footprint of its Stalbridge Linen brand across the North West and West Midlands.
StarCounty has operated across the two regions for more than 50 years. Its customer base includes budget hotel chains, country house hotels, restaurants and other catering establishments.
JSG believes the deal, which included the acquisition of a freehold site valued at £900k, will also ramp up its processing capacity and improve the efficiency of its logistics network.
The chief exec of JSG, Chris Sander, said: “The acquisition of StarCounty announced today [January 5] helps us further develop the business in line with our strategy, increasing our presence in the North West and the West Midlands and enhancing the quality of service we can offer our customers in the region.”
JSG is no stranger to growth through acquisitions. In 2016, the company paid out £15m for the entire share capital of Zip Textiles (Services) Limited, following the deal up several months later with a £52.6m swoop for Afonwen Laundry Limited.
