DoubleTree by Hilton York Launches New “Community Care” Team

The New Year has seen a leading York hotel launch a new in-house team to lead initiatives to benefit guests, colleagues, and the local community alike.

Comprising of staff of all levels and from all departments, the primary role of the DoubleTree by Hilton York CARE Committee is to monitor the hotel’s overall business performance and constantly seek ways to improve it.

It also seen as a key driver in building brand loyalty by inspiring team members to deliver the special comforts and acts of kindness that bring humanity back to the hospitality experience.

At its first meeting, the DoubleTree by Hilton York CARE committee will review its current customer experience and explore ways in which it can be improved further.

Additionally, a sub-committee will be formed to look at the hotel’s relationship with the York community, and examine ways it can become more involved, particularly in relation to helping and supporting charities.

Graham Usher, Doubletree by Hilton York general manager, said: “As part of the world-wide family of Hilton hotels, DoubleTree by Hilton shares in the legacy of Conrad Hilton and his vision of ‘filling the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality’.

“The Hilton CARE Committee is a fantastic initiative and one that the team here are very keen to embrace.

“I’m delighted to say there was no shortage of volunteers when we asked for colleagues to join this steering group and help drive the CARE agenda forward.

“The customer experience is – and always has been - our number one focus, and it’s the role of this new committee to take it to the next level. This goes from the moment a booking is made, through to checking in and receiving the trademark DoubleTree by Hilton warm cookie, right through to departure.

“Additionally, it will look at the way we treat each other and also how we can benefit the community we live and work in.”

Mr Usher added: “Before joining the DoubleTree by Hilton brand, the hotel was well-known for its charitable work, and in particular of its support for Martin House Children’s Hospice.

“The charitable side of the CARE initiative is now going under the microscope, and I’m looking forward to hearing back from the committee about which organisation or organisations we will be supporting over the coming year, and in what ways.”
