Popular Merthyr Tydfil Community Fund returns for second year
Due to the overwhelming success of last year’s St Tydfil Cares Community Fund, it is being relaunched for 2018, however this time the Merthyr community will be given the opportunity to decide who receives vouchers to use in St Tydfil Shopping Centre.
In 2017, through the Community Fund, the shopping centre donated vouchers to the High Street Baptist Church to help it make essential repairs, the Fir Tree Community Association so it could organise a family fun day, the Pontsticill Community Group enabling it to purchase books to create a reading corner, and the Stephen and George Charitable Trust so it could bring together local groups for a Christmas celebration.
To relaunch the Community Fund, St Tydfil Shopping Centre is calling out for groups that would benefit from a donation of £200 to spend at Trespass to get in contact. Perhaps a Merthyr scouting or girlguiding group needs to update their camping kit, or a local youth club would like to add some outdoor equipment – whatever the reason, St Tydfil Shopping Centre would like to hear about it.
From all the nominations received, three groups will be selected as finalists, then the local community will be asked to vote for who they would like to receive the vouchers. Voting will beby email, or via the shopping centre’s Facebook page.
Julie Calderbank, Operations Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented: “Our St Tydfil Cares Community Fund proved to be a big hit last year, so we’re thrilled to be relaunching it. The fund enables us to give something back by helping groups and charities organise projects or activities for the benefit of local people, and we look forward to hearing how groups would use the Trespass vouchers.”
Groups can nominate themselves by contacting St Tydfil Shopping Centre and explaining how the vouchers will be used. Nominations can be made by emailing StTydfil@pmwcom.co.uk or by sending a letter to St Tydfil Cares Community Fund, c/o PMW Communications, PO Box 167, Bideford, Devon, EX39 9DU. The closing date for nominations is Sunday 28th January.
Throughout the year, future call outs will invite community groups to apply for Edwards Coaches vouchers, clubs that support children through the school summer holidays to apply for vouchers from The Works, and schools and nurseries to apply for Wilko vouchers.
Full Terms & Conditions are available on St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s website.
