Energy tech firm reaches manufacturing milestone at Salford base

Energy technology firm Centrica Business Solutions has hit a new production milestone.

At the company’s engineering and manufacturing facility in Salford, work is underway on the creation of its 3,000th combined heat and power (CHP) unit.

The ENER-G unit will allow heating equipment supplier Woodford Heating to provide low carbon heat and power to 150 new apartments located on Carmen Street in East London.

The CHP system works by capturing and using the heat normally wasted in conventional power generation to achieve 90% efficiency.

Centrica Business Solutions’ sales director for UK and Ireland, Ian Hopkins, said: “We are immensely proud to design and manufacture high quality CHP systems in the UK.

“The economic feasibility of gas-fired CHP systems is currently very compelling and we are unique in providing a UK manufactured product and UK-based lifetime service offering.”

He added: “I would like to congratulate our entire Salford team for their commitment to the efficient production of our highly-engineered CHP systems and achieving this 3,000-unit milestone.”

Centrica Business Solutions is part of Centrica plc.
