Bolton developer Forshaw proposes new residential tower at Clippers Quay

Developer Forshaw Land and Property Group is seeking to build hundreds of new apartments in Salford Quays.

If approved, the £45m scheme will deliver 216 new homes across a 34-storey tower at Clippers Quay.

Planning consultancy Lichfields submitted an application for the development on behalf of Forshaw.

According to Lichfields director Nathan Matta, the project could support around 400 temporary and full-time jobs during and beyond its two-year construction timeline, which includes the demolition of the serviced office space currently located on the 12.5-acre site.

The homes comprise a mix of 54 one-bed, 152 two-bed and 10 three-bed units.

In addition to the apartments, the scheme would create a residents’ gym, community room, roof terrace, green areas, car and cycle parking facilities and ground-floor commercial space.

Lichfields’ Nathan Matta said: “Clippers Quay is currently undergoing a transformation. The scale and density of the current buildings in this part of the Salford Quays is changing, with low level buildings being replaced by a series of taller buildings.

“The development is of a high quality design which will result in an outstanding landmark development in this important part of the city.”

He added: “The site is located in a highly sustainable urban area and the development would have a positive impact on the waterside and a number of key viewpoints.”

The proposed building was designed by Manchester architects SimpsonHaugh.
