Tyne Tunnel donation kits out local youth football team
TT2 Limited, the operator of the Tyne Tunnels, has supported Killingworth Young People’s Club (KYPC) by providing new kits, training clothes, and jackets for its football club.
The Tyne Tunnels Community Fund, which was founded in November 2016, donated £1000 to the club as part of its ongoing charity support programme.
KYPC was founded 1980, the club provides a welcoming environment for children to enjoy their first football experience. It has three categories of teams that cover different age ranges, mini-soccer for children as young as six, junior for over 11s and senior for players aged 18 and over. The club has Football Association Chartered Standard Development status, and is affiliated to the Northumberland Football Association.
The donation makes TT2 a sponsor of KYPC under 17’s and the boys will play all of their games in the current season with the company logo on their shirts and training jackets.
TT2 Limited strives to be a good neighbour to community and charity groups on both sides of the Tyne, as well as to those in its wider customer base, and the Tyne Tunnels Community Fund is a fundamental way they achieve this. The fund was established to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the second road tunnel to support local programmes in the area, and has successfully provided funding to many groups since its launch.
Shaun Simmons, Business Support Officer at TT2 Limited, said: “The KYPC is such an important part of the local area, and provides a vital service to the young people in North Tyneside.
“Exercise and team work are both incredibly valuable to any young person, and we are delighted to be able to help the club pay for new kits for their forthcoming season. We wish them lots of luck, and hope to see them at the top of the league.”
Neil Drummond, KYPC secretary said: “As a charitable organisation, the club relies on sponsorship to help teams and players purchase kit. We are honoured that TT2 have become the first sponsor to purchase our new PEAK kits, endorsed by Tim Krul.
“On behalf of the team, the committee would like to say a massive thank you for supporting grass roots football.”
