Merseyside housing giant swoops for struggling Kirkdale nursery
Housing giant Regenda has snapped up a nursery in Liverpool.
The company said it decided to acquire Centre 56, based in Kirkdale, after becoming aware that the nursery was experiencing financial difficulty and faced closure.
The facility provides childcare, information and support for women and children who have suffered, or are at risk of suffering, domestic abuse.
Regenda said it will be able to give the nursery greater support and stability, while Centre 56 will in turn contribute towards the group’s strategy of expanding its care and support offering.
Michael Birkett, chief exec at the Regenda Group, said: “We are delighted that Centre 56 is joining the Regenda Group. Both organisations believe that everyone, no matter what their circumstances, deserves the right support.
“We have stepped in to prevent this wonderful nursery and vital support unit from closing down. However, this is only the start and it is really important that we improve revenue, ensuring the nursery is financially stable for years to come.”
He continued: “As a forward thinking business, we are committed to delivering care and support services, and have expanded our group to help do this effectively, in areas where it is most needed. We are very excited about what the future holds.”
Centre 56 director Maria O’Brien commented: “We’re very excited to be joining the Regenda Group. The services we provide are so important to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. By joining the Regenda Group, we are providing a more stable support service to those people.
“It is important that we continue to work other with businesses across Merseyside to raise vital funds and become financially self sufficient. Being part of a larger group will give us a stronger platform from which to do this.”
Regenda is headquartered in Liverpool.
