North East designer unveils new collection at V&A London
Founded in the North East but inspired by America’s Deep South, SALOME is a series of bespoke, handmade collections featuring natural gemstones.
Made and founded by UK-based American designer, Kellie Daniels in 2015, the brand’s latest collection is called NOLA, short for New Orleans. It features malachite, amethyst, and pearls and was inspired by Mardi Gras in Louisiana, where Daniels was born.
The NOLA collection is inspired by the glamour and decadence of New Orleans, Mardi Gras and the life of a courtesan.
The collection uses rare, precious and semiprecious stones to create a regal collection that aims to pay homage to the culturally diverse Crescent City, aka New Orleans.
The collection was photographed at the V&A Museum in London in order to express the refined beauty of the collection and to highlight the intricate, handmade quality of the jewellery.
SALOME jewellery is crafted with stones sourced from the likes of California and the South Pacific. These curated gemstones are chosen to reflect the raw beauty of the natural world, while the variations within the stones themselves mean that every piece is an original.
Henrique Pinto, manager of the Wolf & Badger store at Grand Street, New York, NY, said: “The collection has been incredibly popular and the customers love them as much as we do.”
The NOLA collection will be stocked by retailers across the globe from America to Europe including Wolf & Badger in Mayfair, London and New York City, HEMLINE in the French Quarter, and COVET in Edinburgh.
