First Merthyr Community Fund finalists are chosen

St Tydfil Shopping Centre has chosen four Merthyr groups as finalists in its St Tydfil Cares Community Fund and it’s now down to a public vote to see which is chosen to receive a £200 voucher for Trespass.

Gellifaelog Primary School would use the vouchers to purchase suitable clothing and equipment for pupils to enjoy its Forest Schools provision, and the 415 Merthyr Tydfil Sqn RAF Air Cadets would buy camping equipment to help its young people complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Also chosen as finalists are the 2nd Merthyr Scout Group, which would use the vouchers to purchase extra kit that can be loaned out to members so they can enjoy scouting activities, and the 1st Merthyr Tydfil Guides, which would buy equipment for use when they attend a large camp at the Royal Welsh Showground in June.

Julie Calderbank, Operations Manager at St Tydfil Shopping Centre, commented, “This is the first time we’ve given the public the opportunity to choose the recipient of our St Tydfil Cares Community Fund donation and we’d like to encourage people to get involved and vote for the group they would like to win.”

Votes can be cast by visiting St Tydfil Shopping Centre’s Facebook page and clicking the chosen group on the poll that will be at the top of the page, or by emailing StTydfil@pmwcom.co.uk and putting the name of the group being voted for in the subject line.

The vote will take place between 9am on Monday 12th February and midnight on Sunday 25th February. Votes cast outside these dates will not be counted and only one vote per person via each method of voting will be counted.

The winner of the £200 Trespass voucher will be the group that receives the most votes. Throughout the year, future call outs and votes will take place for community groups to apply for Edwards Coaches vouchers, clubs that support children through the school summer holidays to apply for vouchers from The Works, and schools and nurseries to apply for Wilko vouchers.
