Here come the girls on Galentine's Day!
Girls just wanna have fun on Galentine’s Day
Love is in the air this February but it’s not all about sharing the love on Valentine’s day - Galentine’s Day is less than ten years old, but is the perfect way to show a little love for the ladies in your life.
As the name suggests, Galentine’s is a day for women to go on a mates’ date and celebrate their female friendships, whether or not they actually have romantic partners with whom they will celebrate the more traditional Valentine’s Day.
The concept of Galentine’s started out as a sitcom joke, when one of the characters of Parks and Recreation, Leslie Knope, declared a day dedicated to spending quality time with her lady friends, and named it ‘Galentine’s Day.’
In celebration of this special day, intu Eldon Square has created a fun girly competition, where three best friends will get to celebrate the unbreakable bonds of friendship with a fabulous VIP package. This indulgent treat includes an overnight stay at The Hilton Hotel, a make-up master class with Inglot, a nail session at Topshop, goody bags from Lush, a £50 intu Gift Card and dinner at Tapas Revolution.
The competition is open until 5pm on Wednesday 14 February; enter via Facebook @intueldonsquare.
intu Eldon Square’s acting marketing manager Vikki Mather said:
“We’ve had a tremendous response to our Galentine’s competition; it seems that everyone wants to get their girls together, have fun, make new memories and enjoy a luxurious pamper experience. This is an empowering day to remember and celebrate the importance of our female friendships, as well as kicking back and having a laugh with our sheroes. We’ve created a fun-packed day in centre with the support of our amazing retailers, topped off with an overnight stay at the fabulous Hilton Newcastle. Happy Galentine’s Day!”
