Hull to become first time host of major energy conference

For the first time ever, Hull is set to host Team Humber Marine Alliance’s annual Offshore Wind Connections conference.

The conference has developed over the last five years into one of the main events on the offshore renewables calendar, attracting speakers and delegates from across the UK, Europe and the United States.

OWC 2018 will hear from industry leaders and governmental bodies on the progress of current projects and future opportunities at Hull’s Doubletree by Hilton hotel on April 25th and 26th.

Mark O’Reilly, Team Humber chairman and CEO, said: “It will be relevant to all businesses and organisations with a stake in the offshore wind industry, which has become a massive employer, directly and indirectly.

“The conference will reflect the exponential growth in offshore wind since we held the first OWC on the Humber south bank; how firms like Siemens and Ørsted have put the region at the heart of the industry and the course it is likely to take as we approach the 2020s.”

Mr O’Reilly added: “We’ve had three successful years at Bridlington and coming to Hull is a natural step, especially considering the contribution renewables is making to the city’s revival.”
