Former Old Trafford office block set for residential transformation
CERT Property has submitted plans to redevelop and extend a former office building in Old Trafford.
The Manchester-based investor and developer secured permitted development rights, late last year, to provide 48 apartments at the former Atherton House site on Talbot Road.
Now, the company is looking to extend the building with a further 12,000 sq ft, creating 18 duplex apartments across two floors.
The extension was designed by Manchester’s Elevate Architects.
CERT Property MD Howard Lord said: “We were very keen not to lose the original architectural language of the building and are looking to deliver what we believe to be an honest conversion of this mid-century building.
How the scheme could look
“The existing white tiled façade will be enhanced by the installation of light gold sliding aluminium panels, which will create a distinctive and contemporary new look to the building.”
He added: “We love that sixties-style architecture is becoming fashionable again and this project will be a tribute to that era of design.”
Speaking further, Howard said CERT is excited to be working in an area “set to benefit from a significant amount of investment over the next couple of years”.
He continued: “I believe the properties will meet the rising demand in this area from young professionals for contemporary and high quality living accommodation.”
