Stagecoach celebrates Liverpool's Chinese connection

Stagecoach Merseyside, Cheshire and South Lancashire is proudly celebrating Liverpool’s rich links with China and has signed up as an official supporter of the city’s China Dream season.

The eight month-long season of exhibitions, performances and events will aim to shine a light on modern Chinese culture and explore the relationship between China and the UK as part of Liverpool’s 2018 Capital of Culture anniversary celebrations.

As an official supporter, Stagecoach will play a key role in events throughout the season and will also create three special China Dream themed buses to mark the celebration.

Running from February to October, China Dream is being delivered in three specially curated chapters featuring a combination of ancient discoveries against dynamic contemporary art. As the city hosts one of the world’s oldest and iconic exhibitions, China’s First Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors, the creative season will showcase the best contemporary and emerging Chinese art, culture and music.

“The team at Culture Liverpool has curated a dynamic and exciting season of events which will highlight the vibrant cultural links between Shanghai and Liverpool and the UK and China, and we’re thrilled to be officially backing this important cultural event.

“We look forward to providing a convenient and comfortable transport option to both residents and the visitors we will be welcoming to our city over the eight month season and can’t wait to unveil our special China Dream themed buses.”

Assistant Mayor and cabinet member for culture, tourism and events, Councillor Wendy Simon, said: “We’re delighted Stagecoach are on-board to support the 2018 China Dream season which is a unique celebration of our links with China and will see the city work with some of the best artists, musicians and performers from the Far East.

“The season has already got off to an incredible start with the arrival of the breath-taking Terracotta Warriors, and the thousands of Chinese lanterns adorning our city centre streets and buildings bathed in red means there is a real buzz ahead of our Chinese New Year celebrations this weekend.

“I’d like to thank Stagecoach for their support and we look forward to working with them on a whole host of exciting projects throughout 2018.”
