Merger Gives Local Charity Greater Knowledge Base
Increased access to specialist knowledge and a stronger financial footing mean a secure future for a regional charity following its merger with the national umbrella organisation.
With guidance from Peter Millican Law’s corporate law team, Relate Northumberland and Tyneside has completed its merger into the national charity, enabling the local staff to improve and expand its services.
The Trustees of Relate Northumberland and Tyneside sought advice and guidance from Peter Millican Law’s mergers and acquisitions specialists prior to completion of the merger. The Trustees chose to follow the national charity’s recommendation to merge, and turned to the central Newcastle law firm to ensure their own aims and commitments would be sustained and met under the new arrangement. The merger not only creates greater financial stability and efficiencies for Relate Northumberland and Tyneside, but also allows it access to a greater pool of expertise and knowledge, giving it the potential to add new services.
Nick Price, Area Manager for Relate Northumberland and Tyneside, commented: “We turned to Peter Millican Law with a tight deadline, and they delivered an excellent service in a matter of days. Their ability to work to our deadline was appreciated, as was their expertise and thoughtful advice.
“It was common sense for us to merge with the national organisation and we were pleased to be able to complete the merger with no disruption to our local services. Our clients still see the same faces, and most are unaware of the merger as services have continued uninterrupted.”
Jabad Jaigirdar, Senior Associate Solicitor with Peter Millican Law, who led the transaction added: “Relate Northumberland and Tyneside has provided invaluable services here for many years. Merging with the national charity has also furthered the charitable objectives of the local trustees. We were delighted to work with the local Relate team to ensure a smooth transition, which benefitted everyone.”
