Treske Strengthens Furniture Team With New Appointment

The leading independent Yorkshire furniture and kitchen manufacturer Treske has strengthened its award-winning team with a new appointment.

Tom Swannie, aged 18, joins Thirsk-based Treske as an apprentice furniture maker.

Justin Bartlett, owner and managing director of Treske, said: “We are delighted to welcome Tom to Treske. This is a significant appointment for us because we are looking at a starting a new programme of regular apprenticeships within our business.

“This reflects the growing demand for our products across Yorkshire and the North East, underlining our confidence in the future, which is driven by an improving economic climate and the skills and commitment of our staff.

“We are looking for keen young apprentices, with an interest in design and woodwork, to join us. Anyone interested should contact us here at Treske. We are a close-knit, dedicated and happy team and take the education and progression of our staff very seriously.

“To this end, each week some of our most experienced former employees, are already teaching an in-house course on woodwork for our members of staff. This is proving very popular and invaluable, turning aspects of woodwork into valuable additional skills,” explained Justin.

Tom, who was born and educated in Harrogate, said: “It’s a dream come true joining Treske and I am looking forward very to being part of the company’s plans in the future. This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I intend to make the most of it.”

Justin Bartlett added: “Thirsk and the Vale of York have a rich furniture-making heritage of which we are proud to be part. There is no doubt that the amazing legacy of Robert Thompson, the Mouseman of Kilburn, is thriving in the Thirsk and its surrounding villages. Our apprenticeship programme will ensure this legacy lives on.”
