Where would you like the next San Lorenzo?...
Popular Italian restaurant chain San Lorenzo, with locations on Gosforth high street and Washington, has been taken over by Lorenzo North East Ltd in a deal that took place this afternoon. The chain is to be headed up by Stuart Young who has been instrumental in the running of the sites with the former owners since May 2016.
Young, who was the group operations manager, is confident that the takeover will bring exciting new investment and growth opportunities: “The takeover has been in the pipeline for quite some time now, and now that it has gone through I am thrilled to start implementing strategies to grow and improve the brand.
“Short term, the bar at Washington will see vast improvements to cater to its growing popularity. I am also working with Dean Lathbury, Gosforth’s incredibly talented head chef, to create a fabulous ‘café’ style menu to make our high street restaurant the lunch date hotspot.
Long term we are actively seeking suitable sites for expansion and have two under consideration at present“
Both locations serve traditional Italian food, with the added authenticity of a specially imported pizza oven from Forni Artigianili – a firm with over 80 years’ experience –the only oven of its type in the region.
San Lorenzo strives for perfection across the board, from their Italian themed décor to their talented head chefs. The restaurant offers weekly frizzare Friday and a happy hour style presto menu meaning their customers can get an authentic meal without breaking the bank.
After a successful Christmas period at both sites, the takeover will be starting on a high:
“Over Christmas we introduced a unique and specially crafted festive menu which was created by our fantastic head chefs. We are excited to continue to harness the skills and creativity of our kitchen teams so the people of both Washington and Gosforth can continue to be wowed.”
