New Homes Development Proves Popular In Rothwell
THE latest buyers to purchase a home within a landmark Rothwell building, which is being transformed into a stunning new residential development, have held aspirations to live in the property for more than 20 years.
The privately enclosed development, named Lay Garth Glade, has seen Leeds based Advent Developments comprehensively refurbish Glenald on Carlton Lane to create two striking semi-detached, five bedroom, houses. In addition, three detached, four bedroom, houses are being built within the walled grounds of the historic building which was formerly a doctors’ surgery and forms part of Rothwell’s conservation area.
Just two homes now remain for sale at the development, where work will complete this summer. It’s the multi-award winning developer’s second development in Rothwell after the company transformed the Grade II listed former Rothwell Primary and Nursery School in 2016, into 14 unique two, three, four and five bedroom homes, known as Carlton Green. Advent also recently completed work on Greenhill Fold, which is an £8 million village development consisting of 49 high quality homes in Upper Wortley and included the restoration of another former school.
Phil Downs and his family, who currently live nearby in the village of Woodlesford, knew as soon as work started on the development, that a home within the restored building would be perfect for them.
Phil explains: “We’ve lived in the area for a long time and have always admired Glenald which was sadly falling into a state of disrepair. We often spoke about what a magnificent family home it could be, because it’s a beautiful building that’s full of character and there’s nothing else like it in the local area. We’d also seen the quality of Advent’s work at Carlton Green, where another historic building was sympathetically brought back to life with an exceptional finish.
“As a result, we put our house on the market within two days of Lay Garth Glade being released for sale, we sold it five days later and immediately reserved our new home. We’re now really looking forward to moving into a house that will combine traditional character with all the modern qualities associated with a newly built home, and we’re delighted to be able to play our part in safeguarding the future of a truly stunning building.”
Tim Reeve, from Advent Developments, says: “Lay Garth Glade has been extremely well received by both homebuyers and the local community in Rothwell, who are pleased to see a fabulous building saved and given a sustainable use for the future. I am really delighted to receive so many complimentary comments from neighbours who recognise the quality of this development.
“We’re currently receiving high levels of interest in the remaining homes, which are unlikely to be available for long. The properties will meet an exceptional standard, with generous private gardens in a leafy environment surrounded by newly planted trees alongside the site’s existing healthy trees.”
All the homes offer spacious layouts and feature high specification kitchens and extensive glazing, with impressive bay windows and bi-fold doors that open into the rear gardens flooding them with natural light. Upstairs there are luxury family bathrooms and indulgent master bedrooms complete with en-suite bathroom facilities. The homes also offer double garages complete with electric doors and driveway parking.
Advent has appointed Wetherby based Keepsake Construction as the main contractor on the development and the homes are being marketed by local estate agents Your Move, based on Commercial Street in Rothwell. Homebuyers can find out more about the two remaining homes, by calling Your Move Estate Agents on 07837 116 469.
