Tesco unveils opening date for new store on Briggate

Tesco has announced the opening of a new Express store in Leeds city centre.

The new store, located on Briggate, officially opens at 8am on Friday 23th February and will then be open to the public from 6am until 11pm each day.

The opening of the store has created 14 permanent jobs and customers can find a bakery, Krispy Kremes, Nescafe Coffee Machine and Lotto in store.

Store Manager Mat Burke said: “We’re really happy to be serving our first customers.

“The store will provide a great range of fresh food and everyday essentials as well as creating new jobs. It’s great to be opening the store in Leeds. It’s such an exciting city and one we’re keen to invest in.”

Mat added: “We’ll be open from 6am until 11pm every day, so we can provide a convenient service for anyone who wants to pop in.”

This Express store is also set to be part of the food retailer’s Bags of Help and Community Food Connection programmes, which are designed to help the local community.

Community Food Connection is Tesco’s surplus food distribution scheme. Local groups can sign up to collect surplus food at the end of each day for free. The initiative, run in partnership with FareShare, helps local groups to feed those in need and can save the costs of providing food as part of their operations.
