50% sold as buyers wind their way to Skipton’s Cotton Mill
Half of the 39 loft-style apartments at The Cotton Mill in Skipton town centre are sold, with work on the stunning scheme now complete.
The Cotton Mill is the final part of the popular Belle Vue Mills development in the heart of Skipton, and the apartments are being sold by leading estate agent Dacre, Son & Hartley.
Office manager Jason Preston, from the firm’s Skipton office, says: “The apartments have appealed to both local people, as well as those from across Yorkshire and beyond. We also have first-timer buyers, professionals and retired couples snapping up the new homes, which is a real demographic mix that will make for a fantastic community.”
Award-winning development company Rushbond, completed the renovation of the attractive historic building this month. There is now a brand new show apartment available to view, to give buyers a real feel for the high specification and exceptional level of quality that flows throughout the entire development.
All 39 luxury apartments have been individually designed with fully integrated contemporary fitted kitchens and bathrooms that are of the highest quality. In the communal areas of the four storey Mill, there is a feature glazed entrance lobby with Yorkstone paving on the ground floor and a lift to all floors.
Jason adds: “Every apartment is individual, with views over the canal and also across Skipton’s rooftops towards the Aire Valley. The delightful sunny aspect of the building and the attention to detail inside and out has created a very positive response from everyone who has viewed here. The smart communal spaces and the blend of traditional and modern design make for a really appealing offering, and with various price points available, there really is something for everyone at The Cotton Mill.”
Richard Baker, from Rushbond, says: “The Cotton Mill is part of an extraordinary collection of buildings that have played a very important role in the town’s social and cultural history. They benefit from a wonderful architectural history which we have worked hard to maintain, and there’s no doubt it will be a fantastic address for anyone wanting a standout apartment that’s ideally located to take advantage of all Skipton’s amenities and rail links.”
Some of the first people to move into The Cotton Mill are Mr and Mrs Walshaw who have moved from Long Preston near Settle, where they had lived for 46 years. The couple, who downsized, had looked at several developments, but initially were unsure about the merits of apartment living. Having visited The Cotton Mill and seen the layout and apartment specifics they changed their minds.
Mr Walshaw, who is a retired architect, says: “The layout of our apartment, which is on the third level is very good indeed and the very large windows of the apartment allow in some seriously big skies.
“The view up the canal along the cobbled street to the swing bridge is quite fascinating, and the fact it’s just a short walk up the tow path to Skipton’s high street is incredibly handy. We have been very impressed overall with the development, in terms of the finish and the communal areas which are particularly pleasant. We are active people who enjoy walking in the Yorkshire Dales and Skipton is a great base for this, with Bolton Abbey and many other fantastic walking routes on our doorstep, we anticipate being very happy at The Cotton Mill.”
The Cotton Mill is part of the Belle Vue Mills development which also includes Glista Mills, Eller House, and the recently completed McCarthy and Stone development, known as Mallory Court, which provide a mix of new and converted apartments.
