Wythenshawe logistics company creates jobs with new 40,000 sq ft facility
Logistics company Cardinal Maritime has cut the ribbon on its new 40,000 sq ft facility in Wythenshawe.
The additional new site, located on Sharston Road, is less than a kilometre from the firm’s head office on Leestone Road.
Wythenshawe and Sale East MP Mike Kane officially opened the building, which is expected to create around 30 jobs.
New staff will work alongside around 20 employees relocating from the Leestone Road HQ.
Architects HBL Associates designed the facility, which was built by ACS Construction.
Cardinal Maritime reported needing additional space on the back on growth in 2017, during which it saw turnover rise by £20m to £85m and launched new offices in South East Asia.
Chief exec Brian Hay said: “2018 looks set to be another good year for Cardinal Maritime. In addition to opening this new facility in Wythenshawe, we have expanded overseas and are actively looking for more opportunities to develop more sites for logistics facilities, as our customer base continues to grow.
“Growing up in Wythenshawe, I am delighted that we can bring more jobs to the community. I am passionate about inspiring the younger generation in the area.”
He continued: “Our Cardinal Maritime Academy currently has a number of apprentices and we work with local schools and colleges by providing mentors from within the business, including myself.”
Mike Kane MP commented: “Cardinal Maritime is a true local success story for Wythenshawe.
“It is not purely about the business and jobs that it brings to the area, it is also about the commitment that CEO Brian Hay and his team give the local community.”
He added: “They are passionate about inspiring the next generation and developing local talent. I am delighted that they are expanding further in Wythenshawe.”
