New Holborn HQ for Bafta-winning creative studio Framestore

Global creative studio and visual effects firm Framestore has announced the relocation of its London HQ.

The company, which recently nabbed a Bafta for its work on sci-fi thriller Blade Runner 2049, moved its team to a 100,000 sq ft office at 28 Chancery Lane in Holborn.

It represents a consolidation of Framestore’s 1,100-strong London workforce, which previously operated across five separate offices in Soho.

CEO Sir William Sargent, who founded the business 31 years ago, said: “As we enter our fourth decade of operation, our move to Chancery Lane is a natural evolution of our business in response to changing market dynamics.

“We built our foundations in the worlds of TV, Film and Advertising, but in recent years our work has expanded into new industries such as finance and data, that sit outside of the usual Soho boundaries.”

He continued: “At the same time, client briefs are becoming increasingly broad, requiring multi-disciplined teams to deliver our complex creative and technology-based solutions across industries as diverse as film, entertainment, automobile and broadcast.

“For us to meet these new demands and continue operating at the top of our game, we needed a new, bigger home in which all our staff could work in close collaboration. Holborn has a real buzz to it and is fast-emerging as the creative heart of the city. We really feel it’s the right place for us to continue our journey.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan commented: “London’s creative and technology sectors are the envy of the world.

“As well as creating jobs and delivering economic prosperity, they have the power to bring together people from all backgrounds and walks of life.”

He added: “I’m delighted that Framestore – a great example of world-class, home-grown creative talent – is reaffirming its commitment to London with its new global headquarters, which will help ensure we remain at the forefront of cutting edge innovation.”
