BUSINESSES BOOST CALVERT TRUST KIELDER FUNDS

MORE than £5,000 has been raised by regional businesses to support services for disabled people, their families and carers at Calvert Trust Kielder.

Hexham-based charity Calvert Trust Kielder welcomed teams from across the region, including Northumbrian Water, Unite Professionals and DAC Beachcroft, for the annual ‘Kielder Quest’ corporate challenge which involved physical and mental activities on both water and land.

Teams of six battled through the instructor-led challenges, which included ‘Float Your Boat’ and ‘Drainpipe Rollercoaster’, in a bid to take home the coveted first prize and ‘Kielder Quest’ trophy.

‘Penny’s Dip Sticks’ from Penny Petroleum were declared the eventual winners on the day with Forward Assist’s ‘Salute Her’ team receiving a special award for displaying outstanding team spirit.

Vicky Hennessy from Penny Petroleum said: “We know Calvert Trust Kielder is a great charity which does fantastic work so we were all thrilled to be taking part in the Kielder Quest.

“The day itself was brilliant. It was definitely a challenge but the determination and camaraderie from everyone involved made it all worth it. We all had fun and knowing that we’re also raising funds for and supporting Calvert Trust Kielder’s excellent work at the same time is a big bonus.”

Calvert Trust Kielder’s Hazel Ditchburn organised the event. She said: “As always, the motivation, determination and team spirit shown by all those taking part made it a really great day.

“Despite the challenges set, everyone enjoyed it and should be rightly proud of their efforts and monies raised for Calvert Trust Kielder. The Quest is one of our biggest and most popular fundraising events and the continued support of regional businesses makes it a real financial boost for the charity.

“We’re very grateful to everyone who took part in and supported the event. Thank you.”

The next Kielder Quest will take place on 14-15 February 2019. For further information and to reserve your place call the fundraising team on 01434 250232 or visit www.calvertkielderblog.org.uk.
