Plans revealed for boutique hotel with rooftop bar at Liverpool ONE

Plans are in for a new boutique hotel at Liverpool ONE.

Liverpool developer YPG is looking to turn the Russell Building, located on the corner of School Lane and Peter’s Lane, into a 50-bedroom venue complete with a rooftop bar and gym.

Spanning the basement level and the first to sixth floors, the proposals include a rooftop bar, gym, offices, conference room and coffee lounge.

The second floor would house the hotel reception along with a restaurant, bar and external seating area.

YPG confirmed it is in talks with an operator for the site.

Ming Yeung, founder and managing director of YPG, said: “These are exciting plans that will deliver a high quality hotel, run by a very prestigious operator with a brilliant track record, in one of the most popular cities.

“Liverpool’s visitor economy is worth £4.7bn every year and Liverpool ONE is at its heart.”

He continued: “Liverpool ONE’s reputation for the quality of its offer and the experience it provides for visitors have been our inspiration.

“Our plans will create a landmark hotel that will provide something special that complements both Liverpool ONE and the wider city centre.”

Alison Clegg, director of asset management at Grosvenor Europe, which owns Liverpool ONE added: “Liverpool ONE attracts visitors from across the UK, many of whom use it to enjoy one of the best lineups of brands in the country and as a base to explore the wider city.

“We have been working closely with YPG on their plans and are confident they will create something exciting for Liverpool ONE and the city alike.”

Subject to planning permission, work on the hotel would start this summer, for completion in Spring 2019.
