Cycle up a treat for Sport Relief at The Broadwalk Centre
On Saturday 17th March shoppers at The Broadwalk Centre in Edgware can do their part for charity, and whisk themselves up a delicious treat at the same time, as the shopping centre is hosting a special ‘Smoothie Bike Challenge’ for Sport Relief 2018.
Throughout the day, in exchange for donations to Sport Relief, the community shopping centre is inviting shoppers, local residents and commuters to get active, hop on specially designed smoothie bikes, and then pedal themselves a wonderfully blended drink to take away.
There will be bikes for both adults and children, and participants will be able to choose from a delicious variety of fruits to concoct their smoothie with. The Broadwalk’s master smoothie maker will also be on-hand to share some mouth-watering recipes including: Strawberry Sunshine, The Zinger, Very Berry, Tutti Frutti, and Mango Bliss.
Shoppers need not panic though, they do not need to be prepared to cycle like pro-athletes - the blending process only takes a few minutes of pedalling for a delicious smoothie to be produced.
Angela Brooks, Centre Manager at The Broadwalk Centre, commented: “We have supported Sport Relief for a number of years now but this year wanted to do something unique in line with our ongoing Love Your World campaign, so it had to have an environmental angle too. The smoothie bike challenge is set to be great fun for all who participate - it’s an ingenious idea that will not only help us raise money for a fantastic charity, but also promote an active lifestyle. The bikes require zero electrical input, so it’s great for the environment too!”
The smoothie bikes will be situated on the main mall in The Broadwalk Centre by Costa Coffee from 12pm to 4pm. The recommended minimum donation to Sport Relief will be £1.
