GLASGOW CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL CHARITY BENEFITS FROM CONTINUED SUPPORT OF HOUSEBUILDER

Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity’s has secured a second grant of £1,000 through Persimmon Homes West Scotland ‘Community Champion’ scheme. The Charity’s appeal for funding aims to support the Paediatric Play and Entertainment service at The Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. The service, which bridges the gap between treatment and fun activity, has joined up with the audiology clinical team to offer a special family day for children with hearing impairments and their families. The team involved has developed the concept to help families in similar situations meet and support one another in a relaxed and fun environment where they can also access useful information and advice. Kirsten Sinclair, Director of Fundraising at Glasgow Children’s Hospital, said: “We are thrilled that Persimmon Homes are continuing their generous support of our young patients. “Families with hearing impaired children face day to day challenges and often suffer from a feeling of isolation. Our hope is that the family day will show the children that they are not the only child who wears a hearing aid, and provide emotional support for families.” Activities on the day will include face painting, hearing aid decoration workshops, meeting hearing dogs and access to the National Deaf Children’ Society Listening bus – a technology roadshow staffed by member of the audiology department. Doug Law, managing director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said: “Our decision to support this cause was an easy one and we hope that the children and their families enjoy the event.” Community groups, charities and good causes across the West Scotland have benefitted thanks to donations from Persimmon Homes. Organisations can apply for funding by completing a simple online form by visiting the Persimmon Homes website.
