Wirral-based finance firm helps Welsh wedding venue with £750k expansion
Wirral-based Bathgate Business Finance has helped a wedding venue in North Wales expand and create jobs.
Tyn Dwr Hall, near Llangollen, is embarking on a new wave of recruitment after undergoing a £750k eight-month refurb.
West Kirby’s Bathgate provided finance options for Wrexham-based building firm Knights Construction, whose managing director, Matt Jones, bought the Grade II-listed mansion from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) in 2014 for £1m.
Located in the shadow of the Berwyn Mountains, Tyn Dwr Hall was built for ironmaster John Dickin in 1866.
UCLan used the property as a youth hostel and educational facility before Matt transformed it into a boutique wedding business.
The hall can cater for up to 150 guests and accommodate around 65 people in 27 bedrooms.
Ian Adams, business development manager at Bathgate, said: “It was great to have the opportunity to work with Matt, helping with the finance for both Knights Construction and Tyn Dwr Hall and experiencing the transformation of the hall from the original purchase to the exceptional refurbished venue seen today.”
Tyn Dwr Hall has created 60 jobs to date, with further recruitment in the pipeline.
Matt commented: “We are now one of the top exclusive wedding destinations in the UK and we are looking to extend our accommodation opportunities in a new spin-off venture which will create more employment opportunities.
“We have helped Llangollen’s image and brought interest from all over the country.”
