Martin-Brooks donates latest charity cash
Six local organisations are benefiting from the ongoing generosity of Sheffield roofing specialists, Martin-Brooks, after it handed over another £3,000 from its charity fund.
Representatives from the nominated charities gathered at the firm’s Darnall offices to receive cheques of £500 each, taking it past its original fundraising target.
On its 25th anniversary, Martin-Brooks pledged to raise £25,000 for charity and although this has now been reached, the firm has committed to continuing its support of six organisations – Amy’s Retreat, Catcliffe MS Therapy Centre, Cavendish Cancer Care, Sheffield Talking News, St Vincent’s Furniture Scheme and The Rowan School.
John Elmore, Martin-Brooks’ managing director, said: “Over the past few years, we have become familiar with the faces behind these small, yet vital, charities and have seen what a difference our donations make. They each offer very different services, but are all loved and respected by the communities in which they operate. It was a pleasure to donate the proceeds from our latest round of fundraising and we look forward to seeing them again soon.”
The mainstay of Martin-Brooks’ fundraising efforts is an annual golf day, held at Renishaw Park Golf Club. Last year, more than 50 friends, colleagues and suppliers turned out to support the event, raising more than £1,500.
Professor Barry Hancock, chairman of Friends of The Rowan School, added: “Martin-Brooks’ continued generosity is much appreciated by FOTRS. The school is applying to the Variety Children’s Charity for a new Sunshine coach and we have committed to raising £10,000 towards this project. The firm’s donation gives us an excellent start.”
